Nearing 65? Get to know Medicare
Most people become eligible for Medicare at age 65. At that time, you’ll need to make some important decisions about your health insurance.
But the choice isn’t always easy. Maybe you’ll keep working after 65. Maybe you have dependents covered by your Bates College sponsored insurance. Maybe you’re just not sure which options could work best for your situation.
Bates College is offering access to Alliant Medicare Solutions, a free service you, your family, and your friends can use to figure out the best Medicare options for your situation. Agents in all 50 states can provide Medicare advice and highly rated insurance plans at competitive rates. Visit AMS online at alliantmedicaresolutions.com or by calling 877-385-8107.

Important Deadlines & Resources
Important deadlines to consider
You have seven months to enroll in Medicare for the first time. This initial enrollment period starts three months before the month of your 65th birthday and ends three months after that month.
If you don’t enroll in Medicare at that time, you’ll need to provide proof that you’re covered by a “creditable” insurance plan, or you may have to pay more for Medicare when you do enroll.
